Depression & Anxiety

Do you feel like you are constantly fighting a battle that not many others understand? Feel alone? Depression and anxiety are common mental health issues that affect individuals and lead to seeking help from mental health professionals. Symptoms of depression may include a sense of sadness, emptiness or low mood for most of the day, nearly every day a loss of interest or pleasure in almost all activities, even ones usually enjoyed. Symptoms of anxiety may include difficulty concentrating restlessness, rapid heartbeat trembling or shaking, feeling light-headed or faint numbness or nausea, sweating and  avoidance. Children & Adolescents

Worried about your child or teen? Our children and teenagers experience tough times just as we do. Sometimes our children and teenagers need additional support to navigate their experiences, when they don’t know how to cope with stress and life challenges. If you child has development or wellbeing concerns we are here for you. We provide support for child anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, schooling difficulties, frustration and anger, sleep problems, and challenges associated with mental health diagnosis such as autism spectrum disorder and attention  deficit hyperactivity disorder. We work with both children and their parents and include a family systems focus.

Parent Education & Support

Feeling powerless? Stuck in the same daily patterns? Not sure how else you can help your child? Parenting is hard!  While parenting is one of life’s greatest blessings, it certainly comes with challenges at times. Prolonged feelings of high stress or demands outweighing your resources to meet them can put strain on your entire family. Parents are welcome to book sessions to access individual information, support and guidance for help in understanding and managing their child’s behaviour and emotions. Parent support may also help with managing stress and dealing with difficult situations and transition periods.

Autism Spectrum Disorder

Have you or a loved one been diagnosed  with autism spectrum disorder? Are you experiencing difficulties in communicating with others, managing emotions, navigating the social world, or managing challenging behaviours?  You may have many questions or need support in building your knowledge of what it means to have autism. We are here to help you get the answers to your questions and provide guidance and support to your specific needs. If you are seeking support for your child, we will provide intervention that sets them up for success and enables them to live their best lives.



Pain
Management

Are you physically and psychologically exhausted from your pain? Is your pain getting worse despite numerous medical appointments and testing? Ongoing pain can be debilitating and can lead to other cooccurring psychological issues such as depression and anxiety. It can also cause financial strain, social withdrawal and feelings of hopelessness. If you are experiencing persistent pain we can provide psychological support to help you better understand your condition and improve your daily functioning. Psychology support can assist in the development of sustainable skills and strategies to improve physical, emotional and social functioning.

Stress

Feeling stressed? You are not alone! Stress is an individual perception of pressure, that occurs when we face situations that we believe we are unable to cope with. Symptoms of stress usually include feeling wound up, overwhelmed, tense, having difficulty slowing down and feeling emotional and physical tension. Integrative Psychology Associates will support you in identifying and managing factors that contribute to your stress to cope better and effectively respond to your personal triggers.



Emotional & Behavioural 

Have emotional reactions that happen so quickly you don’t know what triggered them? Familiar with feelings of ‘loss of control’ or difficulties calming down? Emotion regulation and socially expected behaviour are fundamental to day to day life. Unhelpful emotional and behavioural reactions stem from past experiences and are an ineffective way of coping with current stressors. Emotional competence and self-regulation is an important part of our relationships and  ability to respond in appropriate ways to meet situational demands. Sometimes these skills do not come naturally and psychological support that involves more focused teaching is required. We are here to provide individualised and tailored therapy.

No matter the cause, sleep deprivation is undoubtedly leaving you or your child feeling grumpy, upset and short tempered. Sleep is an essential function that allows us to remain healthy, grow, recharge and effectively function. Sleep is important and we are here to help, providing education and guidance to support that attainment of healthy sleep and best functioning.
